Are you interested in volunteering at FOEPAGIWO? Below is all the information on the application process, requirements, and current volunteer positions based on the organization’s needs. The Foundation for Equal Participation of Girls and Women (Foepagiwo) is a non-governmental organization that ADVOCATES FOR THE EQUAL PARTICIPATION OF GIRLS & WOMEN in social economic activities for the sustainable development of society.
Requirements to volunteer:
- Please note that FOEPAGIWO requires volunteers to be 21 or older
- The minimum stay for a volunteer is 1 month. Due to Tanzanian laws, all Foepagiwo’s volunteers will be issued one invitation letter to receive a Business Visa which allows for a 3-month stay.
- Volunteers are required to pay their own Business Visa to volunteer.
- $150SD non-refundable Administrative Fee, this is waived for anyone doing a fundraiser on behalf of Simbas footprints of equal or a greater amount. 100% of these funds will go directly back into the community you will serve. This fee is payable upon being accepted as a volunteer and prior to arriving in the country.

- Cover Letter: Your cover letter should state why you want to volunteer at FOEPAFIWO and which program you are interested in.
- Recommendation Letter: your recommendation letter from a mentor or previous employer should state why you would be a good fit.
- Application form: download and complete the volunteer application form.
- Intended volunteer dates
After you have been accepted as a volunteer:
- All volunteers are required to undertake a series of small activities and readings to provide useful context about global development and the importance of community-led practices. Completion of these activities is necessary before your arrival.
- A welcome packet full of useful information will be sent to each volunteer as well as the volunteer contact that will need to be sent back along with a copy of your passport.
- You will be assigned a mentor for your stay, a volunteer alumnus of FOEPAGIWO. You will do an information call prior to your arrival as well as we encourage volunteers to utilize their mentor while they are on the ground with any questions as well.
- After your time volunteering at FOEPAGIWO, you will join our alumni network and will become a mentor for a future volunteer.
